Eloïse Gaillou

Directrice du Musée de Minéralogie

 

 

Eloïse GaillouDr. Eloïse Gaillou est directrice et conservatrice du Musée de Minéralogie de l’École des Mines de Paris (Mines Paris - PSL). Après un Master en géologie / pétrologie, elle a obtenu son doctorat en Science des Matériaux et son Diplôme d’Université de Gemmologie (DUG) à l’Université de Nantes. Elle a ensuite effectué des postdocs à la Smithsonian Institution et à la Carnegie Institution, à Washington, D.C. (USA). Elle s’est ensuite installée en tant que conservatrice associée au Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle de Los Angeles County en 2012. En 2015, elle est revenue en France pour prendre la position de conservatrice à l’École des Mines, où elle s’occupe de la collection de 100 000 spécimens, ainsi que des expositions temporaires et permanentes. Elle prit le poste de Directrice du musée en janvier 2024.

Dr. Gaillou est l’autrice de plus de quarante articles scientifiques et grand public, notamment autour de l’opale et du diamant. Elle présente régulièrement des conférences en France et à l’étranger pour public averti ou débutant. Dr. Gaillou est actuellement Représentante Nationale de l'IMA Commission Musée, et membre du bureau de la SMMP (Society of Mineral Museum Professionals). Elle est membre de la MSA (Mineralogical Society of America), de la MetSoc (Meteoritical Society), de la SGF (Société géologique de France) et de la SFMC (Société française de minéralogie et de Cristallographie).
